Bio
Lobo Velar de Irigoyen, Buenos Aires, Argentina (1978). En 1998 inicia su carrera como fotógrafo y creador de imágenes. Definió un estilo personal en una búsqueda continua de lenguajes estéticos a partir de la experimentación y la intervención de sus fotografías. Se destacó en el campo de la moda y la fotografía editorial donde continúa colaborando en diferentes proyectos. Su trabajo como artista disuelve las distinciones entre collage, fotografía y pintura.
De carácter mas bien autodidacta Lobo Velar se formo como fotógrafo estudiando y trabajando con reconocidos fotógrafos nacionales e internacionales y como director de arte en la AAPP. Realizó diferentes cursos, talleres y clínicas con Facundo de Zuviría, Marcos López, Gabriel Valansi, Laura Batkis, Remo Bianchedi y Rodrigo Cañete entre otros.
Actualmente vive y trabaja en la Boca, Buenos Aires y es representado por Smart Gallery en Argentina y Galería Ipercubo en Milán.
Lobo Velar de Irigoyen, Buenos Aires, Argentina (1978). In 1998 he began his career as a photographer and creator of images. He defined a personal style in a continuous search for aesthetic languages based on experimentation and the intervention of his photographs. He stood out in the field of fashion and editorial photography where he continues to collaborate on different projects. His work as an artist dissolves the distinctions between collage, photography and painting.
Rather self-taught, Lobo Velar trained as a photographer studying and working with renowned national and international photographers and as an art director at the Public AAPP. He took courses, workshops and clinics with Facundo de Zuviría, Marcos López, Gabriel Valansi, Laura Batkis, Remo Bianchedi and Rodrigo Cañete among others.
He currently lives and works in La Boca, Buenos Aires and is represented by Smart Gallery in Argentina and Galeria Ipercubo in Milan.
Statement
“Pienso en mi trabajo como un intento lúdico y abstracto de explorar la intimidad de la vida cotidiana en un estado de incomodidad constante. Plantear y cuestionar problemas comunicación y conflictos de interpretación. El deseo, las trampas de la memoria y el paso del tiempo. Utilizo recortes de mis fotos personales. Elijo usar las piezas que cuentan menos que la mayor parte de la historia. Dibujo y pinto con diferentes materiales que componen la escena, tratando de ser flexible con el contexto y aceptando el error como gesto humano. Desacostumbrar la mirada dotando de energía el recuerdo y entablar así una conversación con un presente disconforme donde el vacío se transforma en contenido y el tiempo mas que en libertad, en una carga. Y quizás de esta manera redefinir los roles a favor de una búsqueda permanente que nos ayude a interactuar mejor entre nosotros mismos y la naturaleza encontrando así́ una forma de felicidad.”
“I think of my work as a playful and abstract attempt to explore the intimacy of everyday life in a state of constant discomfort. Raise and question communication problems and conflicts of interpretation. Desire, memory traps and the passage of time. I use clippings from my personal photos. I choose to use the pieces that tell less than most of the story. I draw and paint with different materials that make up the scene, trying to be flexible with the context and accepting error as a human gesture. Unaccustoming the look, giving energy to the memory and thus engaging in a conversation with a dissatisfied present where the void becomes content and time, more than freedom, a burden. And perhaps in this way redefine the roles in favor of a permanent search that helps us to better interact between ourselves and nature, thus finding a form of happiness.”
